“I think Franco will start tomorrow,” promised Zola. “And I am expecting a lot from him. It will take time; he has been playing in Serie B and that is a different level and a different pace but he has got some ‘craziness’ in his eyes so I am expecting anything from him tomorrow.” Diamanti arrived before the deadline from Livorno, for £6m, and Zola added: “He is one of those players who can make a mistake but then can do the unexpected. It’s nice to have somebody who does something different. Variety is important and I am expecting that from him.” West Ham face their biggest test of the season against an improving Liverpool side but Zola insisted that he will concentrate more on his own players rather than worry about Gerrard and company. “I will try and focus on my team playing as best as they can; that has been my mentality for the year I have been here. Hopefully it is going to good enough to win the game; I am not prepared to sacrifice my ideas for the sake of our game. I know Liverpool have good players but the priority is to focus on our game.” Zola has Velon Behrami and Kieron Dyer available after injury and the former is expected to start for the first time in six months sidelined with a knee injury. But another new Mexican signing Guillermo Franco will not feature.
