Football.co.uk's rundown of the 20 Premier League players to watch this season continues, with West Ham's Mexican winger Pablo Barrera the next man on our list.

Name: Pablo Edson Barrera Acosta

Age: 23

Club: West Ham United

Born in Tlalnepantla, Mexico in 1987, Barrera joined his local side Pumas at the age of just 11. After working his way through the youth academy, the lightening fast wide-man made his first-team debut in 2005.

Despite picking up a serious cruciate knee ligament injury in the summer of 2008, Barrera bounced back in style, helping his club win La Primera Division early the following year.

With pace and trickery in abundance, Pablo was rewarded with his first senior international cap in 2007. He has since gone on to make 24 appearances, including three at the World Cup finals in South Africa.

His impressive form for both club and country led to widespread interest from European clubs this summer, but he eventually settled on a move to East London, signing a four-year deal with West Ham just last week.

With the ability to run at and take on opponents, Barrera will add an exciting new dimension to Avram Grant's new-look side next season.
