No.2 keen to avenge Molineux defeat

Albion Assistant Manager Michael Appleton insists the Baggies want to right the wrongs of the last Black Country derby this Sunday (KO 12pm).

The Baggies, who secured their Premier League status a week previously after beating Aston Villa, ended up losing 3-1 after a below par performance against the Staffordshire outfit.

Now, with Albion sitting just a place above the drop zone, Appleton claims the Baggies must avenge the defeat and start in positive fashion against Mick McCarthy’s men.

"Since the gaffer came in, the first-half against Swansea and Wolves were probably the only two 45-minutes' where, as a group of people - players, head coach and staff - we've been disappointed about how we've played or let the opposition get the better of us," said Hodgon’s No.2.

"That includes playing the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea in that time.

"The key thing on Sunday week is to start the game right.

"It's a bit of a cliché but we want to start the game properly.

"I'm sure if we do start properly and get a foothold in the game then we'll have a good chance of collecting the three points.

"There is going to be a lot of passion because it's a derby, but ultimately it's about three points.

"It is three big points from our point of view, because if we're able to get three points it will take us up to mid-table and then we can start to kick on.

"It will be the team that plays the most sensible game, with a little bit of quality to go with it, which will come out on top.”
