West Bromwich Albion eye move for Eiji Kawashima

West Bromwich are in talks to sign Japan's World Cup goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima.

The 28-year-old, who plays for Belgian club Lierse, helped his country make the last 16 in South Africa - conceding just two goals in four games.

He also impressed during the pre-World Cup friendly against England when he saved Frank Lampard's penalty but was eventually beaten by two own goals.

Lierse technical director Herman Helleputte said: 'West Brom asked if we'll discuss a move for Kawashima. We said he can go if they make us a good offer.'
