Dawson banned for Baggies

West Brom's Craig Dawson is suspended for the visit of QPR after he was awarded the red card wrongly given to Gareth McAuley against Manchester City.

Defender McAuley was dismissed by referee Neil Swarbrick for a foul on Wilfried Bony which Dawson committed and the red card was switched to Dawson after a review.

Ben Foster has been ruled out for six months with damaged crucial knee ligaments which the England keeper suffered in the Baggies' last home game against Stoke while Callum McManaman is also out with a foot injury.

Boss Tony Pulis believes his side have recovered to prove themselves after Joey Barton's taunts that they lacked bottle.

Albion host QPR on Saturday aiming to take a giant leap to safety and hammer another nail in Rangers' survival hopes.

Midfielder Barton predicted the the Baggies would "s**t themselves" after going 2-0 up at Loftus Road in December, before losing 3-2.

But, after replacing Alan Irvine 12 days after the defeat in London, Pulis has guided Albion away from danger.

They were a point and a place behind Rangers when he was appointed in January but victory on Saturday will send them 14 points clear of their second-bottom visitors in the Barclays Premier League.

"Whatever Joey says or whatever he does he's entitled to his views and his opinions," said Pulis, with West Brom 14th. "The club were 2-0 up and lost 3-2 so he most probably had a point, or he felt he had a point to say something on that subject.

"I wasn't there, I wasn't manager so I don't know exactly what went on. I can only talk about what's happened since I came in and the players have responded well.

"I've managed teams that have been 2-0 up with only for or five minutes to go and ended up drawing then losing on penalties (Gillingham's 1999 Second Division play-off final defeat v Man City). So I can't talk about being indestructible in respect to leads.

"We've played really well I don't think they've just been good results. The performances have been really, really good.

"We're hoping we'll continue that now. We have four games at home and we have two coming up that will be very tough, then we finish at Liverpool and Chelsea. So they are really tough games."

QPR boss Chris Ramsey insists there is no "doom and gloom" amongst his players ahead of Rangers' crunch relegation encounter .

A tough trip to the Hawthorns is quickly followed by a visit to fellow strugglers Aston Villa on Tuesday as QPR look to close a four-point gap between themselves and safety.

Five consecutive defeats have left Ramsey's side second bottom of the table but the QPR boss claims his squad remain optimistic about their chances of survival.

"There's no doom and gloom here," Ramsey said.

"We've tried to make sure everything is as upbeat as possible.

"Once you start to let the doom and gloom in, it does have an effect on the confidence.

"What we want is high energy performances in the next three games and to obviously make sure we take our chances which we didn't do against Everton.

"We need to battle to the end because we are letting late goals in."

Rangers will be desperate to pick up at least one victory against West Brom and Villa, before they embark on a difficult run that includes games against Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester City.

"The belief is good, it's fantastic, you wouldn't believe where we are but tension mounts when you're in the situation we're in," Ramsey said.

"The players couldn't have given much more in the games recently.

"Those little bits of quality in terms of defence and taking chances haven't been there and we're looking to change that this weekend."
