West Brom have indicated that they will attempt to sign Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster on a permanent basis if the two clubs are not in the same division next season.
Foster is currently on a season-long loan at the Hawthorns, with Boaz Myhill making a similar move in the opposite direction.
Under the terms of the deal, Foster will not be subject to a bid from the Baggies should Blues gain promotion but Dan Ashworth, the Baggies' sporting and technical director, intends to snap up the former England keeper if Chris Hughton's men remain in the npower Championship.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "The deal with Birmingham is that if they get promoted there is no availability to buy, so if they go up Ben will definitely be going back.
"When we did the deal in the summer we said it wouldn't be considered if they got promoted or we got relegated, so if we're in the same division next season then that will be the case.
"If we're not, we would need, and will take, a goalkeeper. Ben has come in and done really well and we would have to consider."
