West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed the club have agreed terms with Lokomotiv Moscow forward Peter Odemwingie.

The 29-year-old, who has dual Nigerian and Russian citizenship and featured for the African nation at the World Cup this summer, is expected to complete the move imminently and could even be available to face Sunderland on Saturday.

Di Matteo told the Birmingham Mail: "We've agreed terms with Peter Odemwingie. We are still sorting out his visa so he's not here yet. Hopefully he'll join us ASAP."

He added: "He's got a great CV and he's a good player. We need a few new faces and it lifts everyone when you see a player like him coming in.

"I'm pleased he is joining us because I'm sure he will be able to help us. He has got great pace, he is two-footed and has good experience at a very high level."

Despite being brought up in Russia, Odemwingie chose to play for Nigeria and has 51 caps to his name, while his former clubs include La Louviere in Belgium and French side Lille.

On his prospects of playing against Sunderland, Di Matteo added: "It depends when he arrives.

"His last game was last Wednesday for Nigeria and in Russia they are already playing in the league. He should be in good shape."

Albion are also hoping to bring in Red Bull Salzburg winger Somen Tchoyi while they have had a bid rejected for Portsmouth defender Marc Wilson.
