Ally Robertson believes Peace should support Clarke

Albion Hall of Fame inductee Ally Robertson believes Chairman Jeremey Peace should support under-pressure head coach Steve Clarke.

Robertson has called for Peace to provide Clarke with new recruits during the January transfer window to end Albion’s winter slump.

The Baggies have won just once in their last nine games and Robertson believes some new faces would reinvigorate Albion’s season.

“I would like Jeremy Peace to give Steve a bit of help but I do not think he will,” said the former defender.

“Steve Clarke has been a good gaffer, he had a fantastic start last season and January comes and goes and who does he buy? Who do we get?

“I would have thought that would have been the right time to get two or three good people in and make us better. You have got to buy when you are strong because that builds confidence.”

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Robertson added: “I feel for him because the club has always been the same, it will never spend the money. You have got to say the club is run right, there is no debt, but in football there comes a time when you have got to take chances.

“I am sure he has got players in mind that he wants but whether he gets the money for the transfers or the wages that’s a different thing.”
