Tottenham defender at West Brom for medical

Federico Fazio is at West Bromwich Albion for a medical this morning, according to reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Spurs only last season from the Spanish side Sevilla for a fee of £8 million but has struggled to make an impact.

The Argentinian made 31 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions last season and was given a straight red card on his Premier League debut at Manchester City.

Federico Fazio appears to be heading out from the White Hart Lane after the arrival of Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid this summer.

The Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been seeking to strengthen the defence as Joleon Lescott thought to be heading to Aston Villa in a £2m deal.

Fazio could be the sixth signing for West Brom this season as the Baggies have already signed James Chester, Rickie Lambert, Salomon Rondon, James McClean and Serge Gnabry.

West Brom lost their Premier League opener 3-0 at home to Manchester City then drew 0-0 with Watford last weekend.
