Baggies tracking Moroccan and Swedish internationals

Strikers Ola Toivonen and Mounir El Hamdaoui are being tracked by the Baggies as Steve Clarke continues to search for new attacking recruits.

Albion are long-time admirers of Swedish international and PSV forward Toivonen, whose adaptability has seen him play as a striker, winger and attacking midfielder for the Dutch club.

Moroccan international El Hamdaoui has been linked with a £750,000 switch to the Baggies from Florentina after failing to impress in Florence after a fruitful spell with Ajax.

The Baggies are in hunt for new attacking options after Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea, Marc Antoine Fortune’s contract expired and want-away striker Peter Odemwingie continues to search for a move away from The Hawthorns.

Baggies boss Steve Clarke admitted yesterday the club needs to strengthen its squad after limited resources saw Albion win only four of their last 19 games.

"There is a lot of work to be done over the summer,” the Scot said. “We have to look at the squad and look to boost it to give it more help.

“In the second half of the season we saw how light we were as a squad. We need more quality players and we probably need a slightly bigger squad.”
