Simpson sets Arsenal aim
Arsenal striker Jay Simpson says he does not intend to spend next season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
The youngster joined the Baggies in January to gain first-team experience and has scored two goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.
West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed he has held talks with Arsenal regarding the possibility of Simpson returning to the Hawthorns next season.
However, the 20-year-old is planning to head back to Emirates Stadium with the aim of forcing his way into Arsene Wenger's plans.
Making a differenceSimpson told the Birmingham Sunday Mercury: "Nothing has been said to me, but I want to go back to Arsenal. The deal was for me to come to West Brom and get first-team experience.
"If I was thinking about (coming) back on loan, then what's the point in going back to Arsenal? It wouldn't make sense.
"My plan is to go back to Arsenal and get into their first team. Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, but I want to go back and make a difference.
"I don't want to keep going out on loan. That's not why I signed a deal with Arsenal."
Difficult
Simpson admits he has not enjoyed his spell at West Brom because of their ongoing struggle to stay in the top flight.
He said: "My main aim was to get experience, but I wanted to blend that with enjoyment and that's not what I've really been able to do because of the pressure we've been under.
"I've learned a lot. I came here and changed my game to adapt to what members of staff were telling me, but maybe I should have stuck to doing what got me here in the first place.
"It's been difficult and maybe I'm not really enjoying it too much."
