Shane Long signs for West Brom from Reading

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has welcomed the arrival of Shane Long after the striker completed his ?6.5million move from Reading.[LNB]The 24-year-old flew back from international duty with Ireland to sign a three-year-deal and complete a medical.[LNB]And Hodgson expects Long to shine in the Barclays Premier League.[LNB] Premier class: Shane Long has completed his move to West Brom[LNB]He said: 'Shane is one of the most talented young strikers outside of the Premier League and I'm delighted to welcome him to the club.[LNB]'He is a goalscorer and a hard-working player who has a very good attitude to the game.[LNB] Signed and sealed: Long is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland[LNB]'The great thing about him is that even though he is still only 24, he has six years' worth of experience of Premier League, Championship and international football and has margin for improvement in his game.[LNB]'We now hope to see him fulfil that potential over the next few years at West Bromwich Albion.[LNB] Target: Roy Hodgson has finally got his man[LNB]'Many other clubs have shown an interest in Shane and it is great that we have managed to acquire his services.[LNB]'With the signing of Shane, our squad is looking close to being complete.'[LNB]Long becomes Albion's sixth signing of the close season but the first for which they have paid a transfer fee.[LNB]He has been Baggies head coach Roy Hodgson's No 1 striker target throughout the summer to provide support for last season's top scorer, Peter Odemwingie.[LNB]He scored 25 goals for the Royals last season and was also linked with a move to West Ham and Leicester.[LNB]Readingchairman Sir John Madejski said, 'I want to pay great tribute to Shane,he is a fine sportsman and has been a conscientious & loyal servantfor Reading Football Club.
