Scharner disappointed to miss `massive' derby

West Brom midfielder Paul Scharner has revealed his disappointment at being suspended for the crucial derby clash with Wolves next Sunday.

Scharner picked up his first red card in domestic football when sent off during Saturday's 2-1 success over Aston Villa.

A win for Roy Hodgson's side at Molineux would edge Albion's bitter rivals closer to relegation.

Scharner told Press Association Sport: "I am really disappointed to miss the derby. If you look on Facebook, I've had a lot of responses about the derbies. They are the two biggest games of the season and our fans are asking me on Facebook to send them down.

"It will be a massive game for Wolves but it's massive for us as well because we want to win the derby. It is important to the supporters.

"But you can't think about the rivalry. We have to keep focused on a good finish and try to end the season as high as possible. We want to finish as the highest-placed midlands team in the Premier League."
