West Brom head coach Roy Hodgson will sit down and discuss his future with chairman Jeremy Peace only when the club are assured of maintaining Barclays Premier League football.
Hodgson's current contract runs out in the summer and he has transformed the Baggies fortunes since replacing Roberto Di Matteo 14 months ago.
He said: "I am relaxed about things. I'm enjoying my time here. I've got a lot of time for the club, a lot of time for the players. I've said to the chairman it would be nice we can make certain we are on safe ground (in the Premier League) and we know where we are heading if we are to sit down and talk about the future together."
He added: "I think the club are relaxed about it as well because they have no need to panic either. We know where we are and what relationship we have with each other."
When asked if the Albion fans should worry whether Hodgson will remain in charge next season, he said: "No, I don't think so.
"I can't give them the guarantee, that's the point, because I haven't signed a new contract. But there is no reason for them to be concerned about that. I'm quite enjoying not being pressurised into making a decision.
"I can allow the time to go a little bit longer before as such time as I have to commit myself to the club.
"When that moment comes, I'll be hoping we've sat down and etched out what we need for the future to make certain the life we are enjoying today, a reasonable position in the Premier League, will carry on
"I'll be hoping I'm not signing to stay on at the club in order to fight very difficult relegation battles every year. To be fair, that is a very pressurised situation.
"People talk about the pressure at the top, and I've experienced that at the top like at Inter Milan, and I can assure people that at the bottom is a damn sight harder than pressure at the top."
