Boss hails Hawthorns hoards

Roy Hodgson dedicated Albion’s first home win of the season to Albion’s tremendous fans.

The Baggies boss was taken aback by Albion’s 12th man in the stands as they watched their heroes beat Wolves after goals from Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie.

The victory gave Albion a much needed three points and a timely confidence boost ahead of next week’s trip to Aston Villa.

"The mood in the dressing room is good, of course," said Hodgson.

"This game means an awful lot to the people in our region, especially our supporters, so this was an important win.

"You could see how passionate both sets of fans were and it was a fiercely competitive game played in the right spirit.

"The atmosphere was magnificent from the very first minute - it was electric.

"The Wolves fans contributed to that.

"There was obviously less of them but they worked their hardest to make their presence felt.

"I thought our fans were really good and shouted them down at the earliest opportunity.

"It was a lively atmosphere.

"I thought the game was very lively and played in an incredible spirit considering the fierceness and competitiveness out there.

"There wasn't any bad fouls or nasty moments, which is credit to both clubs.

"And for us it was good to win it.

"We haven't won here this season - it was the right time to open that account."
