Di Matteo pleased with progress in 2010 Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has spoke of his pleasure at Albion’s progress as he approaches his first full calendar year at The Hawthorns. The Baggies started the year in the worst way after losing at home to Nottingham Forest, but have bounced back in style after achieving automatic promotion and currently sit mid-table in the Premier League. The Italian has overseen a fruitful 12 months at The Hawthorns when long-standing records went tumbling and goals flowed freely. "2010 has been a very good year for the club,” he said. "We haven't lost many games, we have scored a lot of goals and done a lot of good stuff. "We have broken a few boundaries with the best Championship year in the club's history, the best start to the Premier League and the highest position in the Premier League. "We have achieved a lot of new targets and broken a lot of records. "I think all in all it's been a very positive year for all involved. "We haven't had many setbacks. "I think we are moving in the right direction, with a little bit of luck. "I think the team and the club now is in a much better position than it was 18 months ago." Di Matteo recalled a number of memorable days during his 18-month reign at the club as the Baggies have gone from strength to strength.  "Winning 5-0 away at Middlesbrough away was a great game but that wasn't in 2010,” he added. "Maybe the Doncaster game because of the significance of us going up but Leicester at home was a good game too. "Arsenal was a great day too, probably because of the way we did it, but Everton was a hell of a performance as well." The former MK Dons chief has now set his sights at securing another Premier League season of football at The Hawthorns after Albion’s impressive start. "That's what we're all working towards and it would be a magnificent achievement if we managed to be there in December 2011," he added.
