PNE reject another Lonergan bid

Third offer unsuccessful for goalkeeper Albion have had a third offer for Preston North End stopper Andy Lonergan rejected.  The Baggies’ first offer – believed to be in the region of £750,000 – second bid and third official attempt to sign the 26-year-old were quickly rejected.  PNE boss Darren Ferguson now claims the deal is “dead in the water”. Roberto Di Matteo is searching for a competitive No.2 to Scott Carson and has identified Lonergan as a suitable understudy.  “They have been in three times now and we have turned down every bid,” the Preston North End boss said.  "I think everyone has some sort of perception the club is skint but the chairman and the owner are trying to help me as much as they can and to turn down a third bid suggests that. "We got the latest bid [on Tuesday] but I value him at £20million - I don't want to sell him. I'm not being funny but West Brom are not going to get him for what they are bidding, no chance." Despite the trio of rejected bids, the Preston board could still accept an improved offer from the Premier League new-boys.
