Olsson backs high rollers plan

Defender sees no problem signing high earners Albion vice-captain Jonas Olsson believes there’d be no problem in the Albion dressing room should the club recruit a high earning player.  The reasonable defender accepts the club need to strengthen should they stay in the Premier League next season and has backed chairman Jeremy Peace’s latest strategy.  The Swedish international defender insists the Baggies squad only needs fine tuning but would welcome some experience to help the quality already at the disposal of Roberto Di Matteo. "I would definitely like to see that kind of player coming in," said the giant Swede when quizzed. "It's cynical but simple - if you pay greater salaries you get better players. "Good players are always welcome. "That sounds like a good idea. "I don't think it would be a problem. "Any work you're in you get paid what you're worth, whether it's as a footballer or any other job. "It's normal for me - you can't be equal in salaries. "If we get a player who can score 20 goals a season, or we get a great player who can help us stay in the league, then pay him. "For me the issue isn't what the person next to me earns, whether it's less or more. "It's irrelevant. "I want the best players in the team and I'm sure everyone would welcome that. "I can only speak for myself but I can't see why it would be an issue." He continued: "When you go up a division you need to strengthen the squad. "We will do that hopefully. "But I do think we have a good foundation to build on. "Most of the players have tasted the Premier League before and that should be in our favour. "We have a good selection, but perhaps we need more depth for the Premier League. "That's probably a question for the gaffer."
