West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie is hoping to shake off his ankle injury problem in time for next Sunday's trip to face Norwich City.

The Nigerian international striker, who was Albion's top scorer with 15 goals last season, suffered a setback in his bid to return from the injury which has disrupted his early season involvement and he subsequently missed last weekend's 1-0 home defeat against Stoke. However, Odemwingie has admitted that the ankle problem was probably more severe than he initially thought and his latest foot ailment was down to him trying to come back too soon.

But, with the current two-week international break allowing him to work on his fitness, Odemwingie is eyeing up next week's trip to Carrow Road.He told the Birmingham Mail: "Unfortunately the action hasn't started for me yet."Maybe it was a mistake on the part of the medics as well as myself underestimating the injury, never wanting to see the truth in the whole situation. I played 20 minutes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and did not expect to be out (against Stoke) but it's unfortunate."That's football for you and I will have to keep working hard so as to make sure I come back to action very soon."
