Odemwingie hails Hodgson approach

Leading scorer Peter Odemwingie believes head coach Roy Hodgson's emphasis on making West Brom harder to beat has been the key to their major revival since he took charge two months ago. The Baggies were in the thick of the Barclays Premier League relegation battle when Hodgson replaced the axed Roberto Di Matteo - just five weeks after being sacked by Liverpool. But Albion have picked up 12 points from six games under Hodgson to move into the top half of the table and are still unbeaten under him. Odemwingie, who has netted 11 times this season, told Press Association Sport: "People will notice that we play attention to not letting other teams play easily against us. "We are compact when we defend and that's the main thing, and then the coach (Hodgson) gives you freedom to express yourself close to the opponents' goal. "He doesn't encourage too many risks in the middle of the pitch. He focuses on defence because he knows we have a really good midfield with all of them are quality players who can pass and finish. Those are the things we have to do to create and score goals - but he definitely focuses on not conceding."
