Morrison looks to rediscover form

Midfielder hopes to continue progress after injury James Morrison is hoping to discover the form which made him a Premier League hit after missing nearly a year with a rare heel injury.  The Scotland international contracted a degenerative skin injury after a blister became infected.  As a result, the skilful midfielder missed nearly a year of football and suffered on his return towards the end of last season. However the former Middlesbrough man is using the extra pre-season training to help regain his sharpness and hopes to continue where he left off with the Baggies during their top-flight campaign two seasons ago.  “I’ve got a point to prove again,” he admitted. “I got to a stage where I’d proven to people what I could do but this injury made me feel like I’d gone to square one. “It was like trying to climb a ladder and then slipping down. I want to get back to where I was, if not be even better. “Hopefully now I can get back and get more press, get some confidence and have a good pre-season. “When I came back I was wondering whether I’d be the same player again. “I was struggling to get past people and it was frustrating so that’s why I needed this pre-season. “Before I wasn’t keen on the gym but now I’m in there all the time. If you see our gym it’s full of people who had injuries.” Before his frustrating injury Morrison’s form attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs with Bolton Wanderers making a £3 million bid in January 2009.  The Baggies swiftly turned down the Trotters’ offer with Morrison offering advice to Graham Dorrans after West Ham courted his services with two official offers. “When I was in the Premier League there were bids in for me and when I stayed it was better for me personally,” he continued. “It only made me stronger and made me perform better. “It is obviously a good boost when there are other teams interested. “It shows you are doing a good job and they want to be a part of it. “I’m sure Graham will go on to bigger and better things but he is just learning his trade at the moment. “He is a quiet lad at the best of times so he is comfortable and if he goes to another club it might take him time to settle in.”
