Striker says first half shocked players

Shane Long believes Albion’s players needed the ‘wake-up call’ they got during their first half performance against Fulham.

The Baggies were well below par in the opening 45 minutes against the Cottagers but were much improved after the break and were unlucky not to steal all three points.

Long says Albion have learnt lessons from the Fulham display and are taking the positives into the Sunderland game this Saturday.

"The first half was a bit of a wake-up call for us," said Long."But we were unlucky not to get the three points in the end "Fulham are a good side and they are a top-ten, top-eight team.

"We weren't at the office at all and it was good to get to half-time.

"The gaffer said a few words to us and got us going."In the second half we gave it a good shot and they were on the back foot.

"There were a lot of positives to take from it into Sunderland."
