Happy Di Matteo a step closer to promotion Roberto Di Matteo admitted the Baggies are a step closer to gaining automatic promotion after their comprehensive 3-0 victory over Leicester City.  In Roberto Di Matteo’s 100th game as a manager, the Baggies recorded their eighth straight home win after James Morrison’s first goal since January 2009 and a Robert Koren brace. The victory sent Albion twelve points clear of third place Nottingham Forest having played a game more.  If Forest lose to either Bristol City today (KO 3pm) or Cardiff City on Monday the Baggies will be promoted if they beat Watford.   “I think we're a step closer," said the Italin. "It was a good day today. "When we play at home, we know we need to stay patient because the opposition teams that come here try to defend. "It's key to our game that we don't lose our heads and stay in the game for 90 minutes. "The first half was quite an even game. Leicester are a good team. "They are sixth in the table, a difficult team to beat and make it very difficult for the other team to score against them. "After we scored the first one, I was very pleased with the timing of the second goal just before half-time - it was vital. "Today, the timings of the goals were all very good. "You need to give credit to the opposition as well because you can't dominate for 90 minutes. "There are going to be times when you need to defend and soak up the pressure. "We might have made it look a little bit easier than it was but we had to work very hard today to get the result."
