John Carew snubs Birmingham and Fulham for a move from Aston Villa to rivals West Brom

Aston Villa striker John Carew is on the brink of signing for neighbours West Bromwich Albion after snubbing a move to arch-rivals Birmingham.[LNB]Inner city switch: Carew[LNB]The Norwegian international will cost around £1million with West Brom putting a package together to cover his wages.[LNB]Fulham manager Mark Hughes will also be disappointed by the news but retains an interest in signing Cluj's Lacina Traore and Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz should he keep his job beyond next week.[LNB]Villa have decided to cash in on Carew in the January transfer window rather than wait until the end of his contract in the summer when he could leave for nothing and have various targets such as Tottenham's Robbie Keane and Pablo Osvaldo of Espanyol.
