Jewell reveals Cox interest

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has admitted he is in the hunt to sign West Brom forward Simon Cox on loan.

The former Swindon man has barely featured in the top flight this season and Jewell is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the loan deadline.

He said: "We asked about Simon Cox a while ago, about five or six weeks ago.

"But he said he wanted to try to impress the manager, Roy Hodgson, which I fully understand. We haven't heard anything to the contrary.

"We haven't been back in for him but we have been in contact with West Brom to ask them to keep us informed if things had changed and at the moment they haven't.

"There might be a few other clubs interested in him, who are in a better position than us at the moment, in which case we might be up against it. But Simon Cox is not the only one that we have been enquiring about."
