Hodgson to keep West Bromwich Albion backroom staff

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed assistant head coach Michael Appleton and first team coach Keith Downing will remain part of his backroom staff for the remainder of the season.

Appleton and Downing were promoted into their current roles following the departure of Roberto Di Matteo last month. Hodgson has been sufficiently impressed with their contribution to keep them as part of his coaching team.

He said: "My first month has gone as smoothly as it possibly could and a lot of thanks goes to Michael and Keith. They have been a huge help with their support and knowledge of the players I have inherited. I see no reason to change anything for the remainder of the season."

He added: "In the summer we will look at things again when there is more time to assess everything."
