Hodgson states case for defence

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson blamed his side's poor defending for the defeat to Black Country rivals Wolves. The 3-1 loss at Molineux was only the second defeat in 10 games since Hodgson took charge. "If you concede two goals in the first half from corners, and concede a third from an unfortunate error, you've got a mountain to climb," said Hodgson. "I thought we tried to climb it and dominated the second half, showed great fighting spirit, but it was from a 0-3 position against a team who need the points. They were going to do their level best to defend against us." Hodgson insisted his side had not taken their foot off the pedal despite securing top-flight football for another campaign. He added: "I knew I'd get that question and it is an easy one to ask. I think when you go 3-0 down, to show the character and determination we did, shows why we are still in the league."
