It was a case of déjà vu for Roy Hodgson after he watched his Baggies side throw away a point at home to lose 1-0 against Everton.
In similar fashion to the Stoke defeat earlier in the season, Victor Anichebe pounced late on to earn Everton an unlikely win in a game of limited chances
Peter Odemwingie blazed over for Baggies’ best chance when through on goal as Albion fired a blank for the seventh time this season.
The defeat saw Albion drop to 12th in the league and leave a bad taste in the mouth of the Baggies boss.
"It is a very hard result to take," said Hodgson.
"It was a 0-0 game where both teams defended quite well and nullified each other somewhat.
"But it wasn't a 0-0 game - that's the problem - it was a 1-0 game.
"And I think 1-0 games, especially when the goal for them comes so late in the game, as it did against Stoke, are the hardest results to accept and come to terms with.
"I'm very, very disappointed that we couldn't continue what has been quite a good run in the last three games, continue playing the same level of football and, most importantly, couldn't continue amassing points.
"Today we've given three very big points to our rivals, who certainly did well enough to deserve a draw.
"But I think they must be feeling very grateful that we gifted them the goal three minutes from the end.
"It was an obvious mistake.
"To lose it 1-0 with a goal three minutes from time by way of such a calamitous piece of defending was hugely disappointing.
"Everyone has got to be disappointed by that - the players, the coaching staff and the fans.
"I felt very, very bad after the Stoke game and I feel very, very bad after this game."
