Roy Hodgson says West Brom must learn to maintain possession if they are to cause any upsets against the big teams this season. The Baggies defended manfully throughout the match at Stamford Bridge and even led at the interval thanks to a goal from record signing Shane Long. However, the Blues' advantage told in the second half and goals from Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda gave boss Andre Villas-Boas a victory in his first home match in charge. However, Hodgson believes his side were the architects of their own downfall and believes they must learn to maintain possession if they're to win against the bigger sides. The Baggies boss said: "The shape of our team enabled us to win the ball back because Chelsea are a team that push forward, we had the opportunities on the counter-attack to cause them problems, which we did." "In the second half, I don't think we looked after the ball as well as we'd done in the first half."
