Former Liverpool and Fulham man takes over Roy Hodgson has been appointed the new head coach of West Bromwich Albion. The current LMA Manager of the Year takes over from Roberto Di Matteo after leaving his post at Liverpool earlier in the year. The 63-year-old has committed his future at The Hawthorns until 2012 and will officially start his duties on Monday. Hodgson has a wealth of international and domestic experience having managed Switzerland, Finland, Inter Milan twice and most recently Liverpool. He enjoyed a fantastic season last term at the helm of Fulham where he took the Cottagers to the Europa League Final where they were beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid. His European exploits caught the eye of the Reds and he was appointed their new boss at the start of this season. However a combination of poor form and boardroom uncertainty saw Hodgson last month. It’s thought that existing coaches Michael Appleton, Dean Kiely and Keith Downing will all stay at the club and form Hodgson’s backroom team.
