Carson and Valero sold Albion has sold former club captain Scott Carson and record-signing Borja Valero. England international Carson has joined Turkish outfit Bursapor, whilst Valero has had his stay at Villarreal made permanent. The two cost the Baggies more than £8 million. Carson joined Albion for Liverpool in 2008 for a fee in the region of £3.25 million. After previously playing for Charlton and Aston Villa on loan, Carson joined the Hawthorns and made 35 Premier League appearances in his first season. He was unable to stop the Baggies being relegated but captained the side to automatic promotion the following season. Roberto Di Matteo reinstated Carson as his skipper last term, but was relived of his duties after a lack of form. He had one year left of his Albion contract. Record-signing Valero broke the club’s transfer fee when he signed for £4.7 million in the same summer as Carson from Real Mallorca. But the former Real Madrid midfielder failed to cope with the demands of Premier League football and was loaned out back to Mallorca. The following season he again expressed a wish instead of returning to the Premier League and was loaned to Villarreal with a view to a permanent deal. In total, Carson made 118 appearances. Valero made 36 appearances, including six from the bench, without scoring. Are you sad to see Carson or Valero leave? Have  your say at Baggies Banter here.
