Midfielder set for medical Former Manchester United and Aston Villa man Eric Djemba-Djemba is expected to arrive at The Hawthorns for a medical.  The defensive midfielder has emerged as a possible target for Roberto Di Matteo as he looks to boost his squad. The Cameroon international, who made 20 appearances for United and 11 for Villa, currently plays for Danish club Odense.  He has been withdrawn from their squad tonight with head coach Lars Olsen confirming the midfielder’s absence. “Eric will not be involved because we have allowed him to travel abroad,” said Olsen. “It is for personal reasons which we cannot say more about.” After disappointing spells at Old Trafford and Villa Park, Djemba-Djemba moved on-loan to Burnley before joining Qater.  He subsequently rebuilt his career in Denmark and now looks set for the Baggies.  Djemba-Djemba could fill one the defensive midfield formations Di Matteo has been using during pre-season.  The 4-2-3-1 system has worked well so far for Albion after three successive victories. Wide-man Chris Brunt has been deployed in one of the deep midfield roles with the Baggies boss refusing to rule out a position change for the talented left-footer. "We're trying out a few options by using players in different ways," said the Italian. "I think Brunty's shown me he can play more centrally as well as in a wide position. "Yes, it's a possibility we could play him there during the season, but we're just trying out a few things at this stage. "If you don't try them out in pre-season, when are you going to try them out?"
