Di Matteo reveals Odemwingie deal

Nigerian could feature against Sunderland Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has said the club is waiting for a visa to complete the signing of Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie.  The flying forward has agreed terms with the Baggies and is believed to have penned a three-year contract.  Di Matteo hopes his arrival with give his players a much needed boost after the defeat to Chelsea and revealed Odemwingie could face Sunderland this Saturday (KO 3pm). “We’ve agreed terms with Peter Odemwingie,” said the former MK Dons chief.  “We are still sorting out his visa so he’s not here yet. “Hopefully he’ll join us ASAP. That will give the players a lift. “He’s got a great CV and he’s a good player. “We need a few new faces and it lifts everyone when you see a player like him coming in. “I’m pleased he is joining us because I’m sure he will be able to help us. “He has got great pace. “He is two-footed and has good experience at a very high level. “He’s played as a striker and a winger in his career. “For example, in France he played very much up front on his own. “For Nigeria he’s played wide and sometimes they play him up front. “He scores goals too.” “It depends when he arrives. “His last game was last Wednesday for Nigeria and in Russia they are already playing in the league. “He should be in good shape.”
