Di Matteo 'massively disappointed' after Liverpool boss

Boss insists Albion deserved more Roberto Di Matteo admitted his Albion side deserved something for their impressive show at Anfield yesterday. The Baggies were undone by a Fernando Torres strike in the 65th minute after controlling long periods of the game. Albion were denied two good shouts for a penalty and saw James Morrison shown a red card after a mistimed challenge on Torres. However, the Italian was left buoyed by his side’s performance and said there was nothing his players could’ve done to prevent the winner. “We are massively disappointed because we put in a good performance this afternoon against a good team,” he said. “We made it very difficult for them and were very organised. “We were beaten by a piece of quality from one of their players. “But I’m pleased with the team's performance. “I thought we faced them and didn't just defend. “We tried to be positive and play forward. “We had a couple of half-chances and, with a bit more belief and conviction in front of goal, we might have got one in. “I thought we coped well with Torres - and all their other threats - all afternoon. “The difference is these kind of players only need half a chance. “Torres’ shot went between the legs of Jonas Olsson and right in the corner of the net. “There is nothing you can do about that.”
