Di Matteo concentrates on the present

Roberto Di Matteo feels it would be foolish to let his ambitions as a manager take his thoughts beyond his current job at West Brom. Di Matteo's stock is rapidly rising after his team moved up to fourth in the Barclays Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Fulham. The Italian led Albion to promotion from the Championship last season in only his second campaign as a manager, and the Baggies have now taken 15 points from their opening nine league games this term. Di Matteo admits he and his staff have great aspirations, but when it was suggested to him that big clubs might be taking note of his recent success, the 40-year-old insisted that for the time being, his focus was solely on West Brom. "I am very happy where I am and very grateful for the opportunity I have been given here," Di Matteo said. "You can't have a long-term plan as a manager because you have a few bad results, you get questioned and then you get a ticket for your holidays. But my staff and I are very ambitious."
