West Brom ace Joleon Lescott believes the growing trust between himself and team-mate Craig Dawson can help shut out Liverpool next weekend.
The England international is confident fellow defender Dawson can continue his rise in the Barclays Premier League.
Dawson scored his first goal for the club in Sunday's 4-0 victory over Burnley, who had three bids rejected for the 24-year-old in the summer.
He had previously struggled to be a first-team regular at the Hawthorns after arriving from Rochdale in 2010 but has started every league match under head coach Alan Irvine this season.
Albion go to Liverpool on Saturday and Lescott insisted their partnership can blossom.
"It's still early for me and Craig but we are starting to trust each other which helps," he said.
"It's nice to be close. We're not like strikers where you rely on each others' individual brilliance, as a centre-half you need to be a partnership and understand each other.
"He has been here a long time. I know he is only 24 but he plays with a lot of experience and he is a top professional. If I can help him in any way I will.
"Craig has a lot of experience. He is still quite young and has a lot to learn, as do I - we are all learning every day. His main attribute is he wants to learn and if you've got that you will do well."
Former Manchester City centre-back Lescott has helped Albion keep two clean sheets in his first two games after recovering from the knee injury which delayed his debut.
He was untroubled by Burnley on Sunday as Saido Berahino's brace buried the visitors.
The striker is the top-scoring Englishman in the Barclays Premier League with four goals and Lescott believes he can shine.
"He is going to be a top player, he has enthusiasm, he works hard and he has a bright future," said the 32-year-old.
"His attitude is spot on, he works hard, loves the game and loves to score goals. He wants to be a top player and most top players want it more than others. He definitely has that ingredient."
It was Albion's third straight win but Lescott has urged them not to get carried away as they head to Anfield.
He added: "When you lose you can't see the next win but likewise when you win you think you're not going to lose. It's important to keep our feet on the ground and next week is going to be tough."
