Boss not dwelling on defeats

Steve Clarke is staying positive ahead of Albion’s trip to Arsenal this weekend.

Albion travel to The Emirates after back-to-back defeats against Swansea and Stoke City.

The Baggies boss insists Albion hasn’t turned into a bad side overnight and has called on his players to remain confident when facing the Gunners.

“As a player you just enjoy going to the big stadiums and playing against the bigger-name teams,” said the Scot.

“We’ve got a group of players who are experienced in the Premier League and I think they will relish the challenge of going down to the Emirates and trying to get a positive result for us.

“It’s strange when you think of your record against teams in the past, but there probably is a bit of a feeling in them that they have been there and had a good result and they know how to go to the Emirates and win.

“Hopefully they’ll take that memory with them rather than the one they had last year (Albion were defeated 3-0).

“I’ve tried to tell the players that we’re not in a bad place and we have to remain positive.

“If at this stage in the season you’d have said that we’d have 26 points and we’d be level on points with Chelsea and Tottenham I would have grabbed that.”
