New head coach wants first win

Steve Clarke is plotting to get his first Albion win under his belt at the first opportunity.

Albion have been drawn at home against Clarke’s former employers Liverpool on the first day of the 2012/13 season and the new Baggies boss is aiming for three points.

Clarke admits he has no hard feelings over his departure from the Reds at the end of the season, but wants to get his Albion reign off to the best possible start.

"I was delighted to see we were playing Liverpool," he said

"I've got nothing but good memories from my time at Liverpool so to face them in the first game, here at The Hawthorns will be fantastic.

"It takes a lot to get me really excited but this morning I was excited.

"They come here first game of the season and I'm already thinking that will be a great one to win.

"That's what I'm after.

"When I saw who it was this morning I didn't think 'that's really difficult', I thought 'yes, what a good game to play'.

"I think it's a great game for us."
