Steve Clarke was in doubt Albion deserved the three points against in form Swansea – despite the Swans’ controversial late disallowed goal.
The visitors took the lead when Luke Moore nodded home Jonathan de Guzman’s corner in the 33rd minute.
Albion hit back through Romelu Lukaku’s equaliser five minutes later when the on-loan powerhouse turned home Graham Dorrans’ precise centre.
Lukaku missed a golden chance to give Albion the lead when penalty was saved by Swans’ ‘keeper Michel Vorm in the 57th minute.
But Albion were ahead minutes later when Gareth McAuley’s goalbound header was cleared off the line by Ben Davies. However, his headed cannoned off the back of de Guzman and into the net.
The Baggies looked to have weathered a late Swansea charge but there was to be a dramatic end to the game when Roland Lamah’s goal was wrongly ruled out for offside. Replays later showed that the ball had fell to the Swans’ substitute after Gareth McAuley’s clearance had deflected off Ben Foster.
“We got a lucky break,” Clarke admitted. “The goal definitely should have been given, the ball came off Ben Foster last. “It’s fortuitous – but sometimes when you put in the effort, energy and quality we put into that game you probably earn that bit of luck. “We deserved to win the game – don’t be writing that we didn’t! “I’m delighted to come from behind because we don’t do it very often. “In the Premier League there are not too many teams that can do it. “When you go behind in this league it is difficult, especially against a team with the quality of Swansea. “One of their biggest qualities is playing on the counter-attack, with pace. “So, to come back and get three points was really good. “The only disappointment was going behind from a set-play again - and that’s something we need to work on.”
