Carson: Staying up is top priority

Skipper Scott Carson insists Barclays Premier League survival is West Brom's only target despite their flying start to the current campaign. The Baggies are occupying a top-six spot after putting together a five-game unbeaten run which included a 3-2 away success over Arsenal. But Carson is adamant Albion's only goal is to ensure they avoid a quickfire return to the Coca-Cola Championship. Carson, overlooked for England's squad for Tuesday's Euro 2012 clash with Montenegro, said: "We haven't readjusted our ambitions. Our target is 40 points, nothing else. Any more will just be a really massive bonus. "We won't get carried away. People are talking about top six but here at the club we are not doing that. We just want to make sure we build as a club. But we know that a bad patch can happen and dampen our confidence. "We have to be realistic about our ambitions. The main thing is still to be in this division next year. If we can do that then only then will we think about moving onto the next target."
