Carson revels in responsibility
Skipper keeping cool in dressing room Scott Carson believes the added responsibility of being Albion captain has helped him rein in his emotions this season and help lift his teammates after a poor result. The England international took over as skipper from Jonathan Greening back in August and now reacts to poor performances in a more calculated manner. The former Liverpool man admits his winning attitude can cause problems within the dressing room at times but has kept his emotions in check this term to help keep a strong spirit within the squad. "I'm one of those players that want to win everything, even if it's just a silly little game in training, I always want to win," he admitted. "I don't think there's anything wrong with that and sometimes if things go the wrong way then you do let your emotions get the better of you. "But I just want to win everything and I want everyone around me to want the same things as me. "Over the season we played Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday and if there was a bit of aggro in the dressing room after a game on a Saturday then it made it that little bit more difficult on a Tuesday. "I think when we had a low point after a game, we bounced back really well. "When the gaffer gave me the armband I was delighted and I wanted to take it. "It has put added responsibility on my shoulders. "When you get in the dressing room after a bad result, maybe in the past I was one to throw my toys, but now in a season where there were 46 games you've just got to try to pick people up. "Sometimes your emotions get the better of you. "You can have a go at people and the gaffer can, but if you lose people then they're not going to put the effort in in the next game. "In a season like the one we had, it's just about forgetting the last game and moving on. "That's what we did very well during this season."
