Brunt to keep armband

Winger Chris Brunt is to remain as West Brom captain under Roy Hodgson even though Scott Carson has regained his place in the side. Carson wore the armband during Roberto Di Matteo's reign as head coach at the Hawthorns. But the England goalkeeper was dropped in January after a poor performance at Fulham and replaced as skipper by Brunt. Carson is now back in favour but Hodgson prefers an outfield player as skipper and will keep faith with Brunt. The former Liverpool boss said: "I think the captain of the team is a very important person and, if you are made captain. it's a great honour. "I don't feel the need, with Scott having been out of the team and coming back in, to suddenly switch the armband back over. I prefer an outfield player rather than a goalkeeper and most of my captains down the years have been midfielders or defenders. "Chris has also done well since he has been captain."
