Brunt revels in dream return

West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt has revealed he was looking forward to a return to the Riverside for a number of years - with Saturday's 5-0 romp certainly worth the wait. The Northern Ireland international started his career with Middlesbrough's Academy but was never given his chance to shine, signing for Sheffield Wednesday before his move to the Baggies. But he certainly made his mark when he went back to the north east at the weekend, grabbing a brace and pulling the strings in midfield to help secure Albion's biggest away league win for more than 32 years. Brunt told the club's official website: "Middlesbrough is where I started my career but I never got the chance to break through. But I've got a lot to thank Middlesbrough for in terms of my career. "It's nice to come back and get a good result, to score twice is pleasing as well. It's a game I've been looking forward to for a couple of seasons. Last year I missed the game here through injury. "I think the result will raise a few eyebrows but it's still early doors. We'd have come here and taken 1-0 but 5-0 looks really good. Hopefully it sends out a message to the rest of the league."
