Captain guarantees midfield Premier League return

Albion skipper Chris Brunt has told Zoltan Gera he’ll return from injury still a Premier League player.

The Hungarian was yesterday ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in the 3-1 defeat to Spurs.

Gera only returned to the club in the summer and started only three top flight games but Brunt has guaranteed his teammate he’ll return to top flight football next season.

"It was great to get him back and we saw last week how good a player he is,” said the Northern Ireland international.

"It's gutting for him, especially after being out for so long.

"To come back and that to happen shows the cruel nature of football sometimes.

"We're devastated for him.

"It's a big blow for us because he is a big player.

"We have to try and make sure he comes back fit next season as a Premier League player.

"Hopefully, if we do our jobs, he'll be back fit and ready for next season in the Premier League with West Brom.”
