But Roy insists Albion did enough to earn all three Roy Hodgson was happy to see his side again fight back in late fashion to earn a respectable 1-1 draw at The Britannia Stadium. Rory Delap opened the scoring for the hosts shortly into the second half. But Mexican superstar Carlos Vela came off the bench to equalize in the 87th minute – then almost won it for the Baggies. Hodgson, taking charge of just his second game, recalled Scott Carson, Abdoulaye Meite – his league appearance of the season, Steven Reid and Youssouf Mulumbu. The gamble paid off as Albion defended solidly and create a number of chances as the game progressed. “We did enough to get all three points tonight," said Hodgson. "Given the number of chances we created, one goal was the least we deserved. "I was very satisfied with the character, commitment and resilience we showed and very pleased with the all-round team performance. "We had defended pretty stoutly up until they scored. "We hadn't looked too uncomfortable by any means. "We went a goal down from a corner-kick which is not unusual against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium because so many of their goals come from set-pieces. "But I was very pleased not only with the way the players kept going, but that they also took over the game and created some good opportunities. "Fortunately, one of them counted and there were a couple of other occasions where we might have got the winner. "But let's not be too greedy. "Let's be pleased we at least got a point here. "Most importantly, I've had a chance to see the team play well in a difficult game."
