Clarke wants to reward fans

Steve Clarke wants to get another three points at The Hawthorns on Saturday to reward Baggies fans for their support in the first few weeks of the season.

The Scotsman would be the first man in 58 years to lead Albion to three successive top flight victories at the start of a season if his side can overcome Reading this weekend.

Albion’s head coach is also looking for a response from his players after he suffered his first defeat in charge at Fulham last weekend.

“Not everybody is lucky enough to be able to travel to all the away games so for the ones that pay for their season tickets at The Hawthorns, it’s important we give them something to enjoy and cheer about,” he said.

“I spoke about that before I started the job.

“I want to try to give the supporters something to talk about as they’re going home on a Saturday.

“Any club would look to have strong performances at home.

“I don’t know why but it seems to be that most teams do better at home than they do away.

“The grass and pitches are the same but it’s obviously psychological.

“You’ve got the crowd behind you and feel a little bit more confident.”

Do you think Clarke is the man to guide Albion to three successive victories at home at the start of a season? Have your say here.
