Di Matteo says Albion deserved more Albion head coach Roberto Di Matteo revealed his frustration after the Baggies’ 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa. The visitors started the game the brighter and hit the crossbar in 21st minute through Somen Tchoyi. However the game swung in the home side’s favour when Steward Downing converted Marc Albrighton’s cross after Graham Dorrans’ error. The Baggies pushed for an equaliser after the break, but it was Villa who extended their lead ten minutes from time the ball hit Emile Heskey in the face which luckily found the corner. Paul Scharner scored in the dying minutes to give Albion a lifeline. Jerome Thomas had an opportunity to equalise in time-added-on but his chip went agonisingly over as Villa extended their winning run over the Baggies on home soil. "I'm very frustrated because I thought we deserved to get at least a point from the game," said Di Matteo. "I haven't seen the stats yet but from my memory I think Villa scored two goals and maybe had one more chance. "That's not much considering they were playing at home. "In the second half, Villa defended with more bodies and made it more difficult for us - and they are dangerous on the break. "I felt we started the game very well and put them under pressure. "We had a few good chances, hit the crossbar, had lots of possession and around nine corners. "But we couldn't take advantage of that." The Italian’s frustration extended to Villa’s first goal which came from an Albion throw-in. He added: “It's a shame they scored from our throw-in. "We lost possession in an area where we shouldn't really lose possession. "We were caught in a forward movement and that gave Villa a little advantage. "I'm disappointed about that first goal. "We know they are a big club and have quality players. "We knew it was going to be very difficult. "But I was very pleased with the first half. "It was difficult to see them scoring. "We went in 1-0 down but we still believed we could get something out of the game. "Their second goal was unfortunate for us. "I don't think Heskey quite knew where the ball was and it kind of hit him and went in. "But we still believed and tried to get back into the game. "We scored a goal and I thought we deserved more than what we got. "We feel a bit hard done by today."
