Boss focuses on positives after Wolves defeat

Hodgson refuses to be downbeat Baggies boss Roy Hodgson chose to focus on the positives from Albion’s 3-1 defeat to rivals Wolves. Lowly Wolves raced into a three goal lead after two first half set-pieces lead to goals and a terrible mistake from Abdoulaye Meite allowed Steven Fletcher to score a third seconds after the break. But a penalty from Peter Odemwingie, his 15th of the campaign and fifth in five games, brought Albion back to life with Somen Tchyoi and Jerome Thomas coming close to reducing the scoreline. "The verdict is if you concede two goals from corner kicks and come out in the second half and concede from an unfortunate error, you give yourselves a mountain to climb," said the Hawthorns chief. "We tried to climb that mountain. We dominated the second half and came very close to scoring more than the one we got. "We showed great fighting spirit and determination. "Unfortunately, it was from 3-0 down against a team that needed the points and wanted the points. "They certainly were going to do their level best to defend well against us and make it difficult for us. "I can't ask anymore than what I got from the team in the second half. "I'm just disappointed we conceded those two goals from corner kicks. "But when you go 3-0 down and show the determination and character and guts the team showed, that shows why we're still in this league next season. "I'm disappointed for our fans that we didn't send them away happy. "On the other hand I'm absolutely convinced we had nothing to be ashamed of today. "We've given our best and given the West Brom fans lots to cheer this season. "Our goal has been achieved and we'll try to keep fighting in the last two matches to get a few more points to lift us up the table."
