Ben Foster admits West Brom would be powerless to keep Saido Berahino if they received a huge bid.
The striker scored his 15th goal of the season to help the Baggies beat Swansea 2-0 in the Barclays Premier League on Wednesday.
Berahino said last week he was looking to move onto "bigger things" after he had scored the goals required to keep West Brom up.
Head coach Tony Pulis since revealed the striker had been on the "naughty chair" for his comments, but while Foster wants Berahino to stay at The Hawthorns, he knows a big offer would be impossible to refuse.
"Without doubt I do (want him to stay) but I completely understand if a team is going to come in with a £25-30million bid, there's not a lot you are going to do about that," said the England goalkeeper.
"As long as he keeps working his socks off and doing the business for us, I don't think anyone would begrudge him a big move like that.
"It is only going to benefit the club, a lot more money for us to invest into other players as well."
Berahino has been in the spotlight all season and the 21-year-old also pleaded guilty to a drink-driving charge in January and was banned from driving for 12 months.
But Foster insists the striker should be given more time to adapt and needs to avoid the hype.
"There is always a case when a young player scores a few goals, there is always so much hype about it," he said.
"I don't care who you are, if you are Harry Kane at the moment, the pressure on him is incredible. I know he is scoring goals, it's just too much sometimes.
"Everyone needs to take a step back and let them do their thing and hopefully Saido can relax into that mould a bit more and just do his thing."
Victory moved the Baggies four points clear of the relegation zone but left Swansea ninth.
The Swans have won just two of their last nine games in all competitions.
Jack Cork moved to the Liberty Stadium from Southampton last month and dismissed any suggestions they are becoming complacent.
He said: "I have come here and the manager said we wanted to get the best ever Premier League finish, that was enough ambition for me.
"We are not getting complacent. West Brom was a little slip but we can pick ourselves up.
"We've got loads to play for and we are going to try and get as high as we can. On Wednesday we were a little bit unlucky in certain situations and hopefully we can put that right next week.
"We made a few little silly errors and for some reason we got a bit sloppy. We played all right in the first half but we didn't do so well later in the game."
