Midfielder plays 45 minutes for reserves Giles Barnes made his long awaited return from injury during an impressive 45 minute cameo against Port Vale reserves.  The 21-year-old starlet made his first appearance for more than six months in the 3-2 victory without suffering any setbacks to his Achilles injury. The former Derby and Fulham forward thanked Albion’s medical staff after his long awaited comeback claiming he feels physical and mentally strong after his first competitive action for the Baggies. "There's been a lot of hard work behind the scenes and it's all credit to the medical team," Barnes said. "I'm not going to flatter myself and say it's all been me - because it hasn't. "I've needed their help and I wish to thank them for that. "I had to ride a few challenges yesterday and I noticed I had four stud marks in my ankle after the game. "That was a proper welcome back - but I don't mind that! "It means I was doing something right and it was good to get back on the pitch. "The doctors wanted me to take it steady yesterday - sometimes you listen, sometimes you don't! "You want to test yourself and see how you cope. "My legs feel stronger and I feel sharp so hopefully I can carry on. "My fitness is good and I wanted to carry on after half-time, but they decided to take me off which is fair enough."
